My passion for travel began in childhood, growing up in a family that explored the world together. By age 11, I was planning our family trips, inspired by AAA and Mobil guides, to find our family’s perfect hotels and itineraries. Over the years, friends have affectionately called me “Julie McCoy” for my knack for organizing innovative, off-the-beaten-path adventures.
I was certainly a lucky kid—my parents loved showing us the world, and we enjoyed glorious summers with family in Sweden and explored many European countries together. This early passion evolved into a lifelong love of discovering the world—from exploring all 50 states to studying abroad and making lifelong friends through international travel. While I have developed a special affinity for the European way of life, that’s only the tip of the iceberg of my travel adventures—from unique corners of the earth like Lamu Island, Kenya, to more traversed destinations like Tulum, Mexico, I’m here to see it all!
Traveling has always been a non-negotiable for me. Sometimes this has meant bringing along my daughter even when she was a little one, or carving out precious time for a trip while
growing my career and building a real estate brokerage. But I was confronted with the most daunting challenge when I required significant back surgeries that had a major impact on my mobility and the ability to travel in the way that I always had.
At first, this life change was not easy to navigate, to say the least. Over time, my newer accessibility needs have proven to be an incredible learning opportunity. Not only have I gained a new perspective, but now I also have a wealth of knowledge about accessible travel solutions. I love bringing all of this first-hand experience to inform the unique travel experiences of others who require the same careful consideration of each and every detail of a trip.
